How can I get rid of the dry skin on my knees and heels?

I have used Vaseline, medicated cream and VERY expensive moisturiser. I have used a pumice stone and foot file. My knees have been dry for the past 2 years and heels for about a year.

I have found vaseline the best but still doesn't fix the problem. Both my knees and heels have a surface dryness which the Vaseline has got rid of but the skin is still thick and not nice to look at and touch and has deep lines the are constantly there. And they are orange and yellow looking (I have natural yellow undertones to my white skin). Please help! I too embarrassed to wear skirts and open shoes.

At night before you sleep,

Rub milk first on the dry areas then put vaseline...

then wear socks to lock in moisture.

by morning, it's so soft......
Reply:Maybe your doctor knows a cream that really works? You could also try baby-oil, that's usually even softer. Good luck!
Reply:wow, it seems like you've tried it all...maybe its time to g see a dermatologist...good luck
Reply:i have heard vicks vapor rub works wonders....
Reply:have you tried "creamy" petroleum jelly....it's basically vaseline as well but you can use it as a daily moisturiser and more frequently. it can fit in your purse and you can find it at walmart for less than $2!
Reply:Are you using these things on a consistent basis? You have to in order to maintain the moisture levels in your skin.

Perhaps you have a skin disorder that requires some type of strong medicine?

Also try moisturizing in the shower every day. I use Ivory body soap, then Oil of Oil Shower Creme and then on top of that I rub in saff flower oil. By the time I get out I'm nice and soft. And then I still use a body lotion once I dry off. Yeah, lots of maintenance but its worth it.

But again, you have to do this every day.

Is your home/office too dry? Try installing a humidifier.

Is it only affecting the skin on your knees and heels? I'd suggest a doctor's visit if that is the case.

Good luck!
Reply:You'll need a lactic acid or salacylic acid cream for starters. I've been using that on my husbands heels along with olive oil (yes, you read right...it's a great natural moisturizer) with great improvement.
Reply:Use Gold Bond Ultimate softening lotion with Shea Butter. It's ideal for hands, feet, elbows, knees, and all those other dry problem areas.
