What can I do to get rid of the dry skin patches on my face?

I recently moved to Georgia from a tropical climate and I have dry skin patches on my face and I do not know what else I can do to get rid of them...

I wash my face twice a day with a mild, but deep cleanser, use an oil-free SPF moisturizer during the day and a slightly heavier face lotion at night. I exfoliate once a week with a very fine face scrub and also use a Dead Sea facial peel about every 10 days to prevent breakouts (yes, it works).

But this last week I have noticed some dry, flaky skin on my face and I cant seem to get rid of it. My skin doesnt seem dry in these patches, but the flaky skin is obvious.

Does any one have any ideas about how I might get rid of this? Im at a loss as I have never lived in a winter climate before and never had a problem with dry skin.

Thanks...

I have one idea for you: In the shower, rub some Head and Shoulders shampoo on the dry spots. My dermatologist suggested this; she said it was like dandruff but on my face instead of my scalp. It did the trick, and it hasn't come back, actually.

Reply:You mentioned using an oil-free moisturizer, so I'm guessing that maybe you have oily skin and possibly some pimples/acne. Do you use any acne medication? If so, you might decrease the frequency of use now that you are in a different climate. Also, be sure to apply your moisturizer immediately after exfoliating. Just pat your face dry and apply it. Then the moisturizer will actually seal in the moisture on your freshly scrubbed skin before it has a chance to flake again. Also, you said you are using a fine scrub. Try a sugar scrub instead. You can even just mix some white or brown sugar up with a little skin cleanser or moisturizer in your palm and then apply it.
