What are some tips for applying make-up to deep set eyes?

I have very deep set hazel eyes and I feel like eyeliner or mascara ends up giving me raccoon eyes. I have dark brown hair and mid-toned skin (not pale, not tanned). Any good tips for colors of eye shadow, too?

i have deep set brown eyes and mid toned skin tooo. this is what i do.... okay never skip mascara! mascara is a must. but dont put it on the bottom. dont use dark eye shadows on the lids becasue your eyes wont stand out from those. try some eyeliner just on the top of the upper lash line. use whatever color you like as long as it is dark. to make your eyes pop use a light sparkly eye shadow on the brow bone. shimmery beige colors look great on lighter skin tones. for your eye color...blue and olives will for sure make your eyes pop out.
