I got bitten by a cat 3 weeks ago and the puncture marks healed but then over the last week I noticed lumps coming up from underneath where each tooth hit.... I thought at first it was just scar tissue building up underneath because the cats teeth sunk in pretty deep but its not that. I know its not scar tissue because they are GETTING BIGGER! And there is also one long and thin lump that is in between the bite marks. It feels almost like there is a little tube in my arm. There is a total of 4 lumps --all different shapes and sizes-- they do not really "swell out" on my arm they are hard balls underneath my skin...sorry for all the details I am just confused as to what they are... The doctor gave me antibiotics to take when the bite first happened and I took them (well ok I took 2 days worth of the 10 day presciption but I did take some of them)
I just dont know what they are I have looked at webmd and healthline and etc. and none of the websites mention this at all DOCS PLEASE HELP
Cat Bite Healed but now I have lumps under my skin??
Go back to the doctor ASAP. This time, take ALL of the antibiotics or request a penicillin shot; they give you a ten day supply for a REASON.
Reply:Please go to the doctor or an allergist even. It sounds like you might be somewhat allergic to the cats saliva that bit you, even if you are not allergic to cats all together this is still possible. You probably need to take an entire script of antibiotics or something else like an allergy shot. Some cats saliva can be very harmful so please go soon, I speak from experience!!!!
Reply:Cat bites can cause serious illness. It is not to be taken lightly. You have an infection and need to go back to the doctor or at least get back on those antibiotics and don't miss a dose!! I strongly recommend going back to the
doctor. He will not be happy but better safe than sorry.
Reply:When a doctor gives you medicine, especially an antibiotic, you are supposed to take them all! Finish taking your prescription of anti-biotics. Why do think he gave them to you? Now, you're going to have to back to your doc and tell him you didn't do what he told you to do. He may give you more and stronger medicine this time.

I have a similar reaction with the hard bumps under my skin, but I finished my antibiotic as written. Followed all directions. What now??
I have the same hard knots after a cat bite last week. Still taking the antibiotic. My roommate got bit by a cat a few months ago and had knots too and says he had them for several weeks but then they rapidly disolved and are now gone.
I fostered a cat and her babies. She was extremely protective. She jumped on my left front calf and sunk her teeth in. Went immediately to urgent care, got strong antibiotics. I took them all, quarantined the cat. She lived, my bites was good. 15 days after first bite she freaked out again because my other cat came in the room. I turned my back on her to usher other cat out, and darn if she didn't bite the back of my right calf. I was so embarrassed to go back to UC, spoke with D.O.C. he said, just watch it. It happened about 4pm Saturday. Got up at 8 am Sunday, all my joints hurting, by 1 pm I was chilling and it looked like black in the center with red about the size if a baseball. 8+ hrs in ER add it was grapefruit size. I was given IV antibiotics, and sent home with script. Felt so miserable, I spent nite with son and daughter in law. THEY DREW A LINE around infected red area, and Dr STRONGLY STRESSED that when I woke up a few hours later, if it had gone outside the circle, come straight back. I KNEW IT WOULD BE. Sure enough I woke up and back to ER, More IV's, advised to go home with oral Med's, that was Monday AM, by Monday night still had bad fever, pain. Could hardly walk. Since I was in tears in AM, I was going to stay at daughter in law. I had the GOOD SENSE TO GO TO my PCP at 9 AM. My calf was red from low ankle to knee and almost around to front on both sides. She sent me straight to hospital as inpatient. My sister an RN, Surgical person even had a TRAUMA SURGEON ready to see me ASAP in case they had to amputate. Not a great feeling. Anyway. After about 12 more IV antibiotics, etc, things started improving. Got out of Hospital last Thursday, this is Saturday night 9 days later, and progressively improving, but I TOO HAVE A large small apple size knot, that is a good 1/2 to 3/4 in thick. Since I just took my final antibiotic tonite, I will be getting rechecked by UC tomorrow. This stuff can cause you to lose a limb, or die. Serious stuff.

I went to my pcp 3 days after my cat bit me in the back of my right calf, given strong antibiotics and was drawn around the redness, if it goes outside the line come back immediately she told me. Well it has gone outside the line almost down to my ankle, but it's lightly red, and still warm to the touch but the bite marks feel hard. It's been 5 days now since the bite and on meds since Thursday night, and of course it's now the weekend and pcp is closed, not sure if i should just got to the er, or wait til Monday.wish I could share a pic. Any advice? I'm just thinking let the antibiotics do its work, but don't want to lose a limb..
