Deep puncture/cut near wrist?

I was cutting something, Xacto knife slipped and landed near my wrist, deep cut/puncture. the top layer of skin came off..beneath it was withish.. then lots of blood.

I washed w/ soap, alcohol then an antibacterial ointment and a bandaid.. blood is sort of coming through the bandaid.. I'm pressing down on it.

no pain and its small.. maybr 1/4 - 1/8 of an inch.. I'm concerned because it's near veins.. what to do? It's late now, only ER is open.. but I doubt that's necessary

Deep puncture/cut near wrist?
I got cut with a huge cake knife while cutting brownies, I thought I was gonna die, it was a deep puncture near the thumb (palm) of my hand, it bled for a while but you'll be okay, just keep applying pressure and change bandaids if you must, it's good that you cleaned it too. my puncture didn't close up for about a week! If you cut a vein then you'd really be bleeding for a REALLY long time, but something that small isn't so bad.
Reply:if blood is 'sort of' coming through the band aid than i wouldnt say you have anthing to really worry about. just keep it covered and clean, If you're worried about blood loss.. you need to lose ALOT of blood before it's dangerous. If you were losing to much blood, you will start to feel dizzy/ light headed and get discoloration of the face, if you notice this dial an ambulance.. but honestly from the way you've said it I doubt very much that's going to happen,

It won't take long for the blood to clot and the bleeding will stop
Reply:I would go to the ER. The reason is that the wrist has many nerves, veins, arteries, ligaments and tendons. The cut may not look big on the outside, but if it is deep, there could be some long term damage not readily visible at the moment. You could get an infection. The whitish is probably tendons. Don't fool around with it.
