Got hurt. the wound, not very deep, has closed. just a scab. do i need to worry about infection?

as in does it necessarily mean that if the wound has closed, i can stop worrying abt it? it still itches a bit. another deeper one is taking some time to heal but there's no pus or anything. the scratches on my shoulder are not deep at all. just a bit of skin got peeled off (there was quite some bleeding though). by a gilette razor. looks like it's closed and healing. no pus but it hurts a bit on pressing and i keep imagining my arm is feeling funny. is it just my imagination? can i stop worrying about it?

You do not need to worry, Once a scar turns into a scab this means that the scar is healthy and slowly healing at its own pace.

Just don't think about it, after a couple of days you will not need to worry.

You may have a bruise on your wound but this cannot result in infection it just may hurt if you use your hand too often, Or push your muscles in your hand to hard.

It shall heal in time.
Reply:yes
Reply:keep it clean and try to keep it dry for at least 1 day and put aniseptic powder on it.
Reply:if you are cutting then you have a probelm? if you have a scab, and it is iching it is healing don't pick it
Reply:as long as it's not red around the site, or oozing, you should be fine. a little redness is ok (inflammation as the wound heals), but if it expands, that's not good. itching is normal for a healing wound.

good luck!
Reply:the scab protects you from infections and sometimes they itch. so no, nothing to worry about :]
Reply:Be careful not to scrape off the scap or else it will scar. That hapened to me.
Reply:i wouldnt worry too much if i were you just put savlon on open cuts or some type of cream like that and if your still worried or the itching carrys on then get ur doctor to check just in case, i hink its just a matter of time though.
Reply:is the skin around the scab bright red? If not, you're fine. As long as you cleaned the wound...

Sounds like you're paranoid... :-)
Reply:I would think that you are fine. Cuts always itch and have redness around them when they heal. You should keep nepsporen on it.
Reply:If it itches it is healing. As long as it is not red, swollen or hard around the area I wouldn't worry.
Reply:Itching is normal when it heals. If the wounded area starts swelling up, go to a doctor. I had a deep cut on my leg once that I treated at home-about 5 days later my foot started swelling. I went to the doctor, got antibiotics, then it was fine. But it was getting infection.
Reply:I would stop worrying about it, you got cut it should be painful to the touch! As long as the healing is progressing and scabs are forming you should be ok. I would make sure that it stays clean and that you let it breath as long as the skin stays red around the scab and does not start to turn white and firm you will be fine. If it does turn white around the scab and when you press on it, the indention stay for over 10 seconds I would just pop over to the doctor for further investigation.
Reply:Hi I am slightly worried how you became hurt did you hurt yourself? Anyway check on your tetanus inoculation just to be on the safe side. I presume you cleaned the wounds well to begin with. Try not to worry the body is amazing at how it heals itself. When a wound is healing it is often itchy this is a good sign. Take care see your doctor if you need help
Reply:Check for a red line running up from the scraped/ cut part. If you have one get to a Dr. right away!

If you're not infected ( red or pus) any more, try putting some fresh aloe to help healing and keep from scarring.
Reply:the itching is from heeling

sorry you got hurt..but , like and wound you need to take care of it the right way and don't let clothing irritate it.

i would use a ointment like neosporin + pain relief or some infection defense cream (also make sure it's some type you can use or have used before) or ask a pharmacy person to help and remember to take good care of your body so you don't have scares later in life
Reply:You don't need to worry about infection unless you wound is red around the scab, warm to the touch or oozing fluid. Keep it clean and apply antibiotic ointment (neosporin, polysporin)after every cleaning and cover with a clean bandage. The itching is a sign of healing.
Reply:Surface cuts do bleed more then a deeper cut sometimes. Not really sure why you have these razor cuts in those particular areas though. (Non of my business).

As long as the area is not red and inflamed you should be fine. You also stated no puss which is a good thing. The reason you feel the itching is because the wound is trying to heal. (Happen with a surgery scar as well).

I'm sure you can back down off the panic mode you have put yourself in and move on. But before I close, remember this if you convince yourself that something is wrong, you will convince your Brain that as well. If you can calm down your train of thought about worrying about this issue the weird feelings will soon go away as well. The more you scratch it, the worse the scar will look once it's healed. Let it be and all will mend itself.

Best of luck to you
Reply:wounds will itch that just means that they are healing. most wounds will have slight pain when touched because of damaged nerves. They will also have some redness. if the wounds get more painful, start oozing, or start to have a nasty smell call your doc. As for the paranoia. If it would make you feel better tohave a doc look at them go ahead. you can always use neosporin to help them heal and keep them from getting infected. Mederma helps heal scars. Be sure to keep them dry and don't pick at them you'll make them worse.

How did you get the other wounds?

If you need someone to talk to I am here.
Reply:Stop WORRYING! You're like me a hypocondriac [I spelt that wrong, sorry. ] You just need to calm down.... I get scratched all the time and as well as poked, stabbed, etc...

I always rub anti-baterial hand wash [that nasty smelling stuff hospitals use when you first go in to stop germs spreading].. It'll hurt like hell but it cleans the wound. But peroxide kills the skin in the wound so save that for when you see puss. Slather on some neosporen [or some other cream for healing cuts] and put on a band-aid or gause pad with tape [if its a big wound].

Resist the urge to SCRATCH! You'll only remove the scab and make it worse. Take some allergy pills and relax. And again don't worry about things.. But there's a fine line between being worried, paranoid and ignorant.

My brother punch his boss' door and hurt his baby finger, never went to the hospital 2 months later his hand still hurt, went to the hospital and found out he broke his finger but now the tip of the finger [2/4 of an inch] was literally gone, it shattered.

I fell in gym class about 8 years ago and landed painfulling on my knee. My mum was paranoid and took me to the hospital even though I told her it was nothing.. They did an ultra sound and everything and like I told her it was nothing[but I got some good pain pills out of it haha]

Don't worry but don't be ignorant to your injuries. If you worry too much it could turn into something worse [it's always that way].

Don't worry be happy!
Reply:It's a little late now to worry about a healed cut for infection!
