The shot that goes under you skin to check if you have somthing? PVDD? what is it called?

my question is , the shot thats supposed to go under your skin to make a bubble under the skin and should go away if you dont have somthing. What if the nurse puts that shot deeper than just under you skin, what would that do? my last shot i had that was done right it went away in the same day but this time she screwed up and it is a knot and hurts. Will anything bad happen?

PPD TO TEST FOR TB ANTIBODIES PRESENT IN THE BODY. THE SHOT IS CHECKED IN 72 TO SEE IF THERE'S ANY SWELLING. ONCE U GET THE SHOT AND IT COMES OUT POSITIVE(SWELLING OR BUBBLE) YOU WILL BE SENT FOR XRAYS OF THE LUNGS AND CHEST TO DECTED TB PRESENT IN THE LUNGS. GETTING A POSITIVE PPD DOESNT MEAN U HAVE TB, IF U HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO THE BACTERIA AND HAVE THE ANTIBODIES IN YOUR BODY U WILL HAVE A POSITIVE PPD. TB BACTERIA TENDS THE HIDE IN THE BODY FOR A LONG TIME AND ITS HARD TO FIND, ONCE A PATIEN HAS A POSITIVE PPD IT WILL BE POSITIVE FOR LIFE. TREATMENT FOR A POSITIVE PPD IS LONG, 9 MONTHS OF TAKING A DOSE OF ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS MEDS DAILY.

GB VACINE GIVEN TO THOSE BORN IN HOT CLIMATE COUNTRIES CONTAIN A KILLED OR WEAK BACTERIA OF THE TB, THE BODY THEN WILL DEVELOP ANTIBODIES AGAINST IT. THOS WHO HAVE RECIEVED THIS VACINE IN THEIR COUNTRY WILL HAVE A POSITIVE PPD, BUT DOESNT MEAN THAT THEY HAVE TB.

... KIND OF HARD TO EXPLAIN. JUST KNOW THAT AS LONG IS THERE'S NOTHING SHOWING ON YOUR XRAYS U SHOULD BE OK. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE TB BACTERIA TENDS TO HIDE FOR MANY YEARS THAT'S WHY TREATMENT IS GIVEN EVEN THOUGH THE LUNGS XRAYS COME OUT CLEAR.
Reply:the abbreviation is actually ppd which stands for purified protein derivative. it tests to see whether you have been exposed to tuberculosis. if you have been exposed it will react with things like redness and swelling, then further tests like a chest xray need to be done. it won't do anything harmful if they inject it further than right under the skin, but the nurse should have done it a second time on another site like the other arm to make sure the results would be accurate. since it was injected deeper than it should have been, it may hurt and develop a bruise but shouldn't do you any harm.
Reply:The shot is called ppd which is to test you for tuberculosis. It is also called a tb test or mantoux. The nurse should have slipped the needle under your skin at an acute angle and the fluid should make a bubble under the skin of your forearm. If you had the shot elsewhere on your body it was most likely a different immunization. Some immunizations given in the arm or thigh can cause a similar reaction to what you are describing. If you need to go back within 48 hours to have it checked it is the PPD. If not, it could be the MMR (measles mumps Rubella). If it is MMR then warm compresses and gentle massage should make it go down within a few days.
