Isn't there something to put on skin to draw out a splinter that's too deep to reach with tweezers?

I remember hearing somewhere about something that can draw out a splinter: some kind of oil maybe? Or alcohol?

Isn't there something to put on skin to draw out a splinter that's too deep to reach with tweezers?
A friend of mine has used "black drawing salve". It is usually used to draw out pus from a blister or boil. He put some on the opening where the sliver was, put gauze over top and left it over night. The next morning there was just enough of the sliver poking out that he was able to grab it with tweezers. Voila!

Always remember when in doubt, to consult a doctor first though.
Reply:i just soak it in warm water for a while, your body will push it out eventually
Reply:i have a splinter too! in my foot i can't get it w/ twezzers my mom says it will work itself out but i don't believe it.
Reply:Go to the doctor. They have a special type of vacuum that can draw the splinter out. In the worst case scenario, they will have to use a laser. Otherwise, a vacuum will be used.
Reply:did u try soaking it for awhile.. try putting some butter on it then a band-aid , leave it alone til tomorrow ... and try retrieving it again
Reply:I was told to soak it in water till skin is soft and it will help draw the splinter up. Repeat if needed.
Reply:soak the area, teh splinter will come out more

needles help too
Reply:Growing up we always used a salve called ichthamol. It was a black oily salve but worked every time. My understanding is that it is no longer available in drug stores but can be purchased at petstores or livery or equine stores.
Reply:well this is old fashioned but my dad lived by it can milk and a oiece of bread the white part of the bread rip out out a piece soak it with can milk put a bandage around it by morning it should be out it is a drawing sauve they used in the good olden days also works for boils or anything that needs drawing out
Reply:OUCH! Drawing ointment. Magnesium sulfate-glycerol paste. You heat it up and apply then cover in bandage. See your chemist. Good luck.
