It doesn't necessarily go deeper into your skin, but you can irritate the skin around it and cause enough slight swelling that the hair appears to go deeper into you skin. If you plan on trying to remove an ingrown hair, you need to make sure that you clean the area first and that you open the pore. You can do this by trying it after showering, as heat will open the pores. You need to use a good pair of clean tweezers so that you can get a good grip on the hair instead of breaking it off.
If you pick at an ingrown hair can it go deeper into your skin?
The best thing to do is to pull it out. That way it is out of the follicle and isn't being irritated anymore.
Reply:I'm not sure if it can go deeper in but it will definately save you time of you just have your doctor remove it. Think about it, if you pick at it, it could grow farther down and become harder to remove or you might have to wait for it to grow a little more so it can be removed.
